About

Jonnie 711.
I am an earth dude and this blog is a scrapbook of memories, souvenirs, and things that grabbed me by the collar at some point which I will probably forget about if I don't save them somewhere. I began Save the World during the first months of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and finished right before the birth of my daughter, Anikka (July 5, 2020).

Initially, the bulk of this blog contained pre-social media content from defunct blogs I had in the early 2000s. As time permits, maybe in retirement, I'll add other scrapbook worthy content from the 2010s and 2020s, but I know baby Anikka is going to be my focus for awhile.

**Update: Aug. 21, 2022 - Yep, still my focus. Between Anikka, her little brother Llyr, and their mama, it's a wonder I manage to leave the house with my shoes tied. I solved that problem by buying no-tie, slip-on shoes.

I'm not sure what my motivation is with this, so I asked ChatGPT which suggested:
  • Sense of Identity: Curating and preserving these memories can help define your unique identity. The quirky and unconventional moments you've experienced contribute to what makes you, you.
  • Nostalgia: It's a way to relive those moments even as time marches on.
  • Escapism: In a world that can sometimes be mundane or stressful, reliving these unique memories can offer a form of escapism, a mental break from everyday routines.
  • Digital Age and Social Media: The online space provides a convenient platform to store, access, and share memories. The rise of social media has normalized the practice of sharing personal experiences, even the unconventional ones.
  • Legacy Building: By documenting these memories, you're essentially leaving a digital legacy. Future generations might stumble upon these stories and gain insights into your personality and life experiences.
  • Joy in Sharing Laughter: Funny memories have the power to spread joy and laughter. Sharing them online can be a way to contribute positivity to the digital world and make others smile.

Ultimately, the act of curating and preserving these memories online is a reflection of your desire to capture the essence of your life's journey, to find meaning in the moments that have left a mark on you, and to connect with others who appreciate the uniqueness of those experiences.
