Patriot Haircut

If anybody remembers the World of Warriors gun shop photo I posted last summer, you might recall the next door barbershop with a giant American flag painted on their storefront. Well, later that summer, the barbershop's owner also gave a patriotic makeovers to the parking berms directly in front of his shop as well. I kind of like that he goes all out like that. It's like some people with their Christmas decorations.

Deep Impact!

A.I. commemoration of my participation in NASA's Deep Impact mission.

Summary from the Planetary Society: 

Deep Impact was a NASA mission to fly by and impact comet Tempel 1. The spacecraft launched on 12 January 2005 and impacted the comet occurred on 4 July 2005.

A disc containing 650,000 names was mounted on the impactor portion of the Deep Impact spacecraft. When the impactor slammed into Tempel 1, it and all the names it carried vaporized.

What an honor!

I begin each morning in this little pocket of blue collar sentiment:

Labor Ready (not pictured) is on the left. Barber shop is on the right, with the entire outside wall painted like an American flag. In the center is the World of Warriors gun shop. I went in there once. I was surprised to discover, besides guns and ammo, they also sell walking sticks! I should have looked closer to see if the canes were equipped with weaponry, but I don't think so. They weren't behind the counter, they were just haphazardly collected in a tall box by the door.

Well, this is stupid. It's a sticker from an organization called the Presidential Prayer Team.  I'm now getting spammed with right wing prayer requests, but receiving this free sticker of George W. Bush praying with the ghosts of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington makes it totally worth it.

U.S. Invasion of Panama

I don't know why I recorded this information or why I typed it up, but it is an account that brother Todd and I recorded in December, 1989, as we stayed up late watching news accounts of the U.S. invasion of Panama.
