Yep, I did this. It seemed like the thing to do at the time.
We met at the high school and were bussed around to where they needed people.
Weird thing.

I wasn’t particularly community-minded in high school, but I do remember participating in things like this. I also took part in a community disaster response drill where a group of us at the high school were instructed to act as injured victims. The emergency response team arrived and handled the situation as if they’d been called to a real mass-casualty event at a school. We were even transported by ambulance to the hospital, where they assessed our “injuries.” Good practice for the real deal!
